Scarce copy of the controversial history book  Buddhism in Pre-Christian Britain by Scottish journalist and folklorist Donald MacKenzie, noted for his work on Greco-Roman and Assyrio-Babylonian Myth, as well as his work on British and Celtic myth and racial theory. In this text, MacKenzie largely cites ancient artwork depicting cross-legged figures to argue for the colonization of the British Isles by Buddhists during the rule of Emperor Asoka the Great of India. This copy was formerly part of the library of the British Museum.

178pp. Blue cloth boards with title, author, and publisher gilt to spine. Spine ends and top fore corners bumped. Wear, toning, and small cloth tears to top third of spine. Text block and pages toned. Occasional pencil underlines and annotations. Occasional dogearing. Illustrated with 12 plates. Ex libris British Museum Library, with stamps obscured by pen. Good condition.
