Tindall, Gillian. A Handbook on Witches. Castle Books : New York. 1965. First American Edition.

A well loved but well preserved copy of the First American edition of A Handbook on Witches , an introduction to the history and theories of witchcraft by Gillian Tindall published the same year as the original London edition. Primarily focused on British witch lore, this text traces the history of witchcraft from its appearances in the bible through to the last witch hunters in early modern England with some mention of equivalent persecutions and practices from the rest of Europe.

Occasional underlines and emphases in red pen. Contains 12 black and white illustrations. Non-price clipped dust jacket worn at edges. Minor tear to front face top edge and at top spine’s rear hinge.
