Description

Final Issue of Short-Lived New Zealand Underground Magazine Ferret featuring bomb instructions and coverage of Neil Riethmuller’s attack on the US Consulate in Christchurch.

Ferret No. 4. Kozmik Krumbia. Christchurch, N.Z. Dec. 1973.

The fourth and believed final issue of Ferret , a radical underground magazine which published in Christchurch, New Zealand irregularly throughout 1973. Following the release of the first issue, number 2, a police raid over the publication of the article “Mad Bombers Handbook” caused delays and cost overruns on future issues. In response, this issue features long extracts from “Anti Tank Weapons” by Derek Shipp, apparently intended to thumb the nose to authorities while spreading information about Molotov cocktails and similar devices like thermos bombs. This issue also includes an essay from noted New Zealand artist Tony Fomison (1939 – 1990), a reprint of Gilbert Shelton’s famous “Set My Chickens Free” comic, and a feature on Neil Riethmuller, the New Zealand college student who set fire to the US Consulate in Christchurch in August 1973.

28pp, staple bound periodical. Some soiling to wraps. Illustrated throughout. Pages clean. Very good.
