Manuscript diary of George Findlay (1884 – 1918) of Concord, N.H. Mostly blank, the contents of the first 26 pages of the diary manuscript largely consist of an account of the 1903-1904 whaling voyage of the schooner Mary E Simmons of New Bedford, Massachusetts including notes on the size and location of whales taken as well as a long entry on a stop at Cape Verde. The text also includes remarks on the wreck of another ship and the election of Teddy Roosevelt, as well as packing lists of clothes and books for the voyage and signatures from several other sailors including shipmates and Antoine Mandley, Captain of the Golden City.

Pages 97 – 101 are given over to entry and transcribed obituary for his maternal grandmother Mary Randlitt, originally of Kingsey, Canada.

Findlay later died volunteering with the Canadian Army during World War I as part of the April 1918 Sommes defense.
