Schwenk, Theodor. Whicher, Olive and Wrigley, Johanna (trans). Roggenkamp, Walther (illustr). Sensitive Chaos : The Creation of Flowing Forms in Water and Air. Rudolph Steiner Press : London. 1971. First English edition, second impression.
A fascinating and beautifully illustrated book of esoteric philosophy, Sensitive Chaos by German engineer Theodor Schwenk demonstrates the principles of anthroposophy by examining the parallel forms seen in the movement of air, water and living organisms. Arguing that one can trace the “archetypal forms of movement” in the path of a river or the patterns of ocean waves Schwenk’s text (as well as the introduction by Jacques Cousteau) attempts to connect science to spirituality in the vein of earlier works by Goethe and Rudolph Steiner.
