First Edition of Sexualitat Und Schuldgefuhl By Otto Rank Owned By Noted Dutch Physician Theodore Van de Velde with Bookplate

Rank, Otto. Sexualitat Und Schuldgefuhl. Internationaler Psychoanalytisher Verlag. Leipzig / Wien / Zurich. 1926.

Number 21 in the Internationale Psychoanalytishe Bibliothek, this first edition of “Sexuality and the Sense of Guilt” by Otto Rank expands upon the ideas of Freud, such as the Oedipus Complex, suggesting that guilt is inherently linked to the desire for separation and individuation and his own theory of birth trauma. This copy was formerly owned by noted Dutch physician Dr. Theodore van de Velde, who proved women ovulate only once per menstrual cycle, and was cited in by Wilhelm Reich in his essay and book Listen Little Man!

160pp + 4ads. Yellow cloth boards with title and author stamped to front and spine. Corners and spine ends bumped and worn. Minor soiling along edges. Bruise front board fore edge. Text block toned with minor spotting to fore edge. Ex-libris bookplate and bookseller’s sticker to front pastedown. Pages toned but clean. Good.
