Collected lectures of philosopher, spiritualist, mesmerist and early psychologist John Bovee Dods examining clairvoyance, mediumship, spirit manifestations other supernatural phenomena in light of animal magnetism and his personal theory of “electrical psychology”. The text also includes a consideration of Quakers, the seeress off Prevorst Fredericke Harifffe, the visions of Swedenborg, and the writings of Judge Edmonds, Dr. George T Dexter, and Governor Nathaniel P Tallmadge, whose book Spiritualism had released its first volume the previous year. Additionally, Dods devotes an entire chapter to the consideration of Reichenbach’s theory of Odic Force, noted for its connections to vril and orgone. This copy was formerly part of the collection of the Swedenborgian Brooklyn New Church Free Library.
