Signed copy of a later printing of an early presentation by scientist turned pioneering UFO researcher Stanton Friedman, originally delivered in 1971 at the Midwest UFO Conference, a presentation of MUFON, then still the Midwest UFO Network (today’s Mutual UFO Network).
Friedman’s lecture responds to various myths and misconceptions surrounding UFO sightings and the existence of alien life as well as the presentation of various unsolved “mysteries” associated with the phenomena.
Stanton T. Friedman (1934–2019) was a Canadian-American nuclear physicist and one of the most prominent figures in modern UFO research. After working on classified projects for major aerospace companies in the 1950s and 1960s, he became a full-time ufologist, arguing that some UFOs were likely extraterrestrial spacecraft. Friedman was instrumental in reviving interest in the 1947 Roswell incident, popularizing the case of Betty and Barney Hill, and was known for his methodical, science-based approach to UFO investigations.
